Developing Communities Everywhere

Who We Are

Developing Communities Everywhere (DCE) is a not for profit organisation operated by Founder Mrs. Bridget Ofosu- Andam and Mrs. Nana Yaa Kyei, together we strive to assist communities on a global scale. This organization was founded on March 20, 2016. We, in collaboration with future partners and board members, are creating a NPO that specializes in development projects worldwide.

Our (current) projects focus on working with rural and underdeveloped communities throughout continental Africa, to address their social needs and develop methods to be financially independent from development projects in the future.

We also seek to occasionally highlight the beauties and richness of African countries that are typically coined as being impoverished and showcase the positives of these countries. Through cultural education and touring key places in the countries of our host communities we seek to create meaningful projects.

What Are We Doing and How?

We interact with locals to figure out how we can be of assistance. We currently assist orphanages, dilapidated schools and ghettos with donations and specific requests. By the support of our donors we contribute to communities by donations, support in creation or temporarily running community programs, health screening, community prayers, community forums and more.

We seek to address the needs of the community and work with the community youth on a mentorship basis to teach and empower their community members. DCE envisions to develop communities by working with communities and helping them realise and create their own visionary goals, with an emphasis on aiding youth and women alike to develop skills and practices to enhance their social and financial well being.

We also envision helping communities create functioning and feasible economical plans to stimulate their local economy and create a basis for funding for the community.

Mission

Developing Communities Everywhere (DCE) is a not for profit organization that creates and implements initiatives focused on working with rural and underdeveloped communities around the globe; currently we are working in sub-Saharan Africa to address their social needs and develop methods to be financially independent from development projects in the future.

DCE is ready to enrich the grounds of underserved communities by creating and implementing workshops,
educational services, agricultural programming’s, and significant needs that can possibly stabilize communities.

Goals

DCE proposes to work in communities from a micro level by working alongside community members and locals to address their communal needs.

DCE focuses on working with the community to develop and explore the community’s wealth in their: educational systems, local economies and sustainable agricultural opportunities DCE also works with communities to uncover localized social/societal barriers and works with the community to address them and create viable, sustainable solutions.

As per the foundation and beliefs that DCE is built.

Principles

DCE aspires to be an aid for the community, provided that the community is working for themselves and is working as diligently and e ectively alongside DCE members to address this initiative.

DCE is not an organisation that supplies nances and support to communities without the communities showing that they have designed and are implementing a sustainability measure and support for themselves.

DCE seeks to work with underserved communities by o ering support for the community with a focus in education, female empowerment, health, life skills, agriculture and employment skills building.

DCE reserves no rights to in uence and/or inform the community of who their leader and/or community representative can/should be and will reserve the right to follow the traditional aspects of respect towards this/these representatives.

DCE is in no shape or form seeking to enforce foreign ideologies on various ethnic groups. DCE is a respectful organization and recognizes the unique cultural diferences in each ethnic group.

Host Countries and Key Issues

DCE currently has two project invitations. Our first project invitation is in Golf City Bethlehem, Tema, Ghana, where DCE will be working with both the orphanage and locals in the community.

The community that we are working with in this region of Ghana faces high levels of illiteracy, an underfunded school, under managed staff and low local economical stimulation. They also face social issues with women and youth wherein women are not as empowered to be as independently financially stable and are leading single parent homes.

The youth of the community face low exposure, lack of essential provisions and guidance for future career development and certain life lessons.

DCE plans to fund itself by creating fundraisers, accepting donations and in the near future selling volunteer packages to interested volunteers to come for either two weeks, one month, six months and one year.

The package will include room and board for the volunteer and two to four excursions to see key historical sites of the country.

It will also include a one-week cultural awareness program where abroad volunteers will learn more about the culture of the host countries, the importance of being aware of cultural appropriation and its impacts, and about cultural norms of the host country.

Continue to visit the website for updates on our volunteer excursions.
